Generic Phenytoin Tablets To Hit Market

Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories Inc. said late Friday it will market extended phenytoin sodium capsules for Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.

Sun Pharmaceutical received approval for 100 milligram capsules of the anti-convulsant drug, used to treat seizures related to epilepsy and neurosurgery. It is a generic version of Pfizer Inc.'s Phenytoin extended release.

Generic and branded versions of the drug have annual sales of $170 million, according to industry data.
