Celgene Says Barr Pharma To Market Generic Thalidomide

Celgene Corp. said Wednesday that Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. filed an Abbreviated New Drug Application with the Food and Drug Administration to market a generic version of thalidomide.
Celgene said Barr is seeking approval for the treatment of moderate to severe erythema nodosum leprosum, an immunologic skin ailment. Celgene markets thalidomide under the brand name Thalidomid for treatment multiple myeloma, as well as for erythema nodosum leprosum. Celgene said it plans to file a complaint against Barr, alleging infringement of Celgene patents.
