Teva's Copaxone Hits Global Sales Record

Generic drug maker Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. said early Tuesday global sales of its multiple sclerosis drug Copaxone rose 15 percent during the third quarter to reach a record $354 million.

The drug is distributed in the United States and Europe by French Drug maker Sanofi-Aventis SA, which reported third-quarter earnings Tuesday. Teva, the world's largest generic drug developer, is based in Israel.

U.S. sales of Copaxone grew 10 percent to reach $226 million and sales in Europe and elsewhere grew 26 percent to reach $128 million.
