Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc., a generic drug maker, on Thursday said it received final regulatory clearance for its previously announced acquisition of Shire PLC's Adderall drug for $63 million.

The company said it plans to launch the drug in the fourth quarter.

The company said the Hart-Scott-Rodino waiting period for the acquisition, which will be completed by its Duramed Pharmaceuticals Inc. subsidiary, expired without further action from the Federal Trade Commission.

Adderall is used in the treatment of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
