Chiron Names Goldstein President, COO

Troubled flu vaccine maker Chiron Corp. named Jack Goldstein president and chief operating officer, formalizing Goldstein's interim appointment. Goldstein, 57, has served as acting COO since November and previously was president of Chiron Blood Testing. The company said Goldstein will continue to oversee the organization's day-to-day business and report to Chief Executive Howard Pien. The company said Pien will continue to guide Chiron's remediation efforts for its Liverpool manufacturing facility, which regulators shut down this fall, preventing the company from providing thousands of doses of its Fluvirin vaccine to the U.S.
