Barr Unit Gets Nordette Rights

Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. on Tuesday said its Duramed Pharmaceuticals Inc. unit agreed to acquire exclusive rights for Nordette oral contraceptive tablets from King Pharmaceuticals Inc. for about $12 million. Under the agreement, King will assign U.S. regulatory approval of the product to Duramed, which will make and market Nordette in the United States.
